Rules of a Round

A hand of Texas Hold'em moves through several stages. There is a chance to make a decision at each stage — a wrong decision at the wrong stage and your chips are gone.

Each round begins with posting Blinds — two players place mandatory bets called the Small Blind and Big Blind. The dealer then deals two face-down cards (Hole Cards) to each player. This first stage is called Pre-Flop.

In Pre-Flop, each player looks at their hole cards and decides — Call, Raise, or Fold. After the first betting round, the dealer places three community cards face-up — this is the Flop. Then one more card comes — the Turn; and finally the fifth card — the River. A new betting round follows each card.

Those still at the table at the end go to a Showdown and reveal their hole cards. Whoever can form the strongest hand from any five of the five community cards and two hole cards wins the entire pot.

Bet Types and the Result of Each

Knowing which action you can take in which situation in Texas Hold'em makes decisions much easier.

Action What happens When it is used
Fold You discard your hand and take no further part in the round. Any bets already placed are lost. When your hole cards are weak or the risk seems too high relative to the pot.
Check Passing the turn to the next player without placing a bet. You can only Check if no one has bet before you. When you want to see the next card for free after looking at the board.
Call Placing an amount equal to the previous player's bet. You stay in the pot. When your hand is reasonably strong but you are not confident enough to Re-raise.
Raise Placing more than the current bet. Forces others to Call or Fold. When you have a strong hand and want to grow the pot, or to bluff with a weak hand.
All-In Betting all your chips at once. If you win, you receive the fair share of the pot; any extra bets from other players form a Side Pot. When you have a very strong hand or are in a last-resort situation.

House Edge — a Basic Overview

Texas Hold'em is a little different from other casino games — because here players are mainly competing against each other, not against the casino. The casino takes a small portion of the pot called the Rake. This Rake is the casino's actual source of income.

The Rake is usually a fixed percentage of the pot, but there is a maximum cap per hand. This means the effective Rake rate actually decreases in larger pots. On live dealer tables, the Rake structure can usually be seen in the table info panel.

At ck4's ck4 Casino, the Rake rate and maximum cap for Texas Hold'em tables are clearly stated before you open a table, so there are no unexpected charges.

Starting Strategy for Beginners

To do well at Texas Hold'em, keeping a few basic principles in mind from the start can significantly reduce losses.

  • 01
    Only play strong Starting Hands.
Beginners often continue playing with weak hole cards. Ace-King, Ace-Queen, suited pairs — these are strong hands. A general rule is that it is better to Fold a weak hand at Pre-Flop.
  • 02
    Use the advantage of position.
The player closest to the dealer button acts last — this is a big advantage. From Late Position, you can play a few more hands because you have already seen everyone else's decisions.
  • 03
Bet according to the size of the pot.
A bet is generally effective when it is between half and the full pot. A very small bet makes it easy for the opponent to Call, while an unusually large bet can scare them off and reduce your advantage.
  • 04
    Read the board texture.
If the Flop has three cards of the same suit or connected cards, the opponent is more likely to have a Flush or Straight. In that case, proceeding carefully is the wise move.
  • 05
    Follow bankroll management.
Set aside only the amount you can afford to lose and play within that. Not playing beyond a set limit in a single session is part of a long-term strategy. You can learn more about responsible gaming in ck4's guidelines.
  • 06
    Keep bluffing controlled.
Beginners often lose too many chips by bluffing. A bluff works when the board matches the hand you are representing and the opponent looks weak.

Live Dealer vs Digital Table

ck4 offers two types of Texas Hold'em experiences. Which one suits you depends on your playing style and purpose.

Live Dealer Table

  • Professional dealer on a real camera, with chat support
  • Real card shuffling in a studio setting is visible
  • World-class studios from Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live
  • Dealers available in multiple languages — interface can be used in Bengali
  • Hands move a little slower due to real-time shuffling

Digital (RNG) Table

  • Start playing anytime at any speed
  • A lower-pressure environment for beginners — no camera
  • Bet ranges are generally flexible, small stakes are possible
  • Auto-deal is fast, so more hands can be played
  • No human interaction — software interface only

For players across Bangladesh including Dhaka who prefer playing on mobile, the digital table is convenient — it works fine even with a slightly slow connection. Live tables require a stable connection due to video streaming. On the ck4 app, both experiences are organised in separate sections, making it easy to go to whichever you want.

Live dealer environments tend to have more Medium and High Roller tables; digital tables offer more Low Stake options. In both cases, the current session rules are visible in the table info panel.

Understanding Table Limits

Low Stakes

For complete beginners — start with small Blinds. Useful for learning from mistakes and practising hand reading. Less pressure on your bankroll.

Medium Stakes

Suitable for players with some experience. As pot sizes grow, the importance of strategic decisions increases; more competitive players tend to be found at these tables.

High Roller

For experienced players — big Blinds, big pots. Here you need focus, strategy, and a solid bankroll foundation all at once. Usually available at live tables.

At ck4, the Minimum and Maximum Buy-in for every table is clearly shown in the lobby before you sit down, so you can tell right away which table suits your bankroll.

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually two to nine players can sit at one table. A two-player game is called Heads-Up — the strategy changes quite a bit in that format. Live dealer tables have a fixed number of seats; RNG tables generally have a single player going against the computer.

The Flop is when three community cards are revealed together — it is the main turning point of the round. The Turn is the fourth community card, revealed one at a time. The River is the fifth and final community card. After each reveal, a new betting round begins and the remaining players at the table take their action.

If two or more players have hands of equal strength, the pot is split equally between them. This is called a Split Pot. It happens when the best five-card combination of all active players is exactly the same value.

Most live dealer studios allow you to type messages to the dealer. The interface can be used in Bengali, though the dealer typically speaks in English. ck4's support team can assist in Bengali — you can ask questions via live chat.

Yes, once you go All-In there are no more decisions to make in that hand. A Main Pot is formed up to the amount of your chips; if other players bet more on top of that, a separate Side Pot is created which the All-In player does not participate in. After the cards are shown, the pots are distributed correctly according to the rules.
