The value is the same in all three formats — only the way it is written differs. If the bet loses, the full ৳200 is gone.
Now suppose Team B is the favourite with decimal odds of 1.50. A ৳200 stake returns ৳300 (৳100 profit). In fractional this is 1/2, in American it is −200 — meaning you need to stake ৳200 to make ৳100 profit. American negative odds always apply to the favourite.
Decimal Odds
The simplest format — multiply the odds by your stake to get the total return. 3.00 means ৳300 back for every ৳100 staked.
Fractional Odds
2/1 means ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked. The numerator is profit, the denominator is the stake — the original stake is also returned.
American Odds
Plus (+) means underdog — that amount is your profit on a ৳100 stake. Minus (−) means favourite — you stake that amount to make ৳100 profit.
Live Betting — Wickets and Overs Shift the Odds
Betting while a match is in progress is called live or in-play betting. In cricket this is especially dynamic because every wicket and over can change the situation.
In in-play betting, odds change in real time. Take this example: Team A is batting and has scored 85 runs in 10 overs — their odds to win the match may be relatively low at that point.
